Quinn comes into the office, goes into different rooms and starts the coffee until she see’s Jake laying on the table with blood everywhere. She pulls her gun and then grabs his phone out of his pocket. Huck then comes in and Quinn fires her gun but it’s way off target. Huck see’s that Jake is still warm so he hits him in the chest and he wakes up and yells in pain.
They call Liv and David. When they get there Liv goes to help them while David says that they need to call 911. Liv tells him that they can’t because then a digital trail will be created and that her father will find him and kill all of them just to teach her a lesson. Huck tells David to take over for Quinn so she can call Charlie since all of his contacts are ghosts.
They move Jake to a warehouse and are waiting for the doctor when Huck leaves to check on his family. We then get taken to Virginia and see Mellie talk to the press. They had practiced a statement regarding her becoming senator while still first lady but the statement made Sally Langston attack her verbally. The doctor, Ilya finally gets there after an hour and confirms that Jake is dying and that he will have to do many surgeries. Ilya recognizes Olivia and asks Charlie about her. We then see Liv speak Russian. Because you know she speaks all kinds of languages.
Ilya says that he needs a favor or he won’t help. His friend, a retired KGB agent, Black Sable needs help on a new mission. Jake starts coughing so Liv agrees to the favor. After that Huck, Quinn and Charlie run to Ilya’s car to get the equipment and Liv goes to find clean water.
Ilya needs help so he says to David, “Now, you, scared man with glasses, we flip him over. Now. Right now. We flip, he scream. We flip anyway.”
Huck and Liv go to talk to Black Sable. When they reach the house they ring the doorbell and are greeted by a nice older lady. They think that they have the wrong house but they don’t. We see her grand kids there and she shoos them away. She goes by the name Mary Peterson. She invites them in and offers them cookies. Huck takes some and then they chat about how she joined the KGB. She says that her family was poor. Russian poor. Her brother died of starvation. The KGB was recruiting and she had a gift. She said that it was the greatest thing that ever happened to her. Huck then finishes and says, “Except it wasn’t.”
She reiterates his statement and says that she could never go home and when she tried to see her mother once they shot her. Olivia asks how she quit and she says that she didn’t. The world changed and the KGB was no more. She got to have a husband, a baby and a family.
She found a piece of paper under her windshield the other day. It’s the location of a dead drop for later that day. We see that the American people think that Mellie becoming a senator is a conflict of interest and that she’s not abandoning her job as first lady. We see Fitz, Mellie, Liz and Abby in the oval discussing the problem. Fitz asks for Abby’s opinion and she says that Mellie needs to distance herself from her husband so even though they live together they lead separate lives and they have to address the issue of whether it is legal or not.
Abby calls David and tells him that they need him in the White House but he says that he is sick and can’t come in. He says to roll calls to him and he will answer whatever questions he needs to. Ilya tells Liv that Jake needs more surgery and for that he needs blood so Liv tells Quinn to get blood.
Huck is watching the dead drop and Liv orders him to follow the handler so they can figure out who it is. David is doing a phone interview and establishes the three requirements to be a senator. You have to be 30 years old, be a citizen for nine years and you have to be a resident for the state you want to represent.
The deputy under the secretary of defense is a Russian spy. Huck calls Liv and tells her that the handler’s name is Kostya Pasternak, he has a butcher shop. Ilya starts the surgery. We then see Rowan talking to Russell. Russell says that Jake has been eliminated but Rowan says that’s not true because if he had been then he would have gotten a call from his daughter promising vengeance but she has gone underground so he orders Russell to find Jake and finish the job.
Russell calls Liv in an attempt to track her but she hangs up before he can. We then see her enter the butcher shop with Huck and try to buy Mary out of the organization. “Some people have bark, some people have bite. I have both.” He doesn’t accept so Liv goes back to tell Mary. Mary tells Liv that she can’t kill anyone anymore because that’s not who she is anymore.
We then see Fitz talking to Abby in the oval. Abby says that they need to send someone onto Sally’s show. Fitz suggests Liz but Abby says that it has to be a guy and looks at Cyrus. Russell tells Rowan that he couldn’t find Liv so Rowan shoots him in the arm and says that maybe now she will bite.
Fitz yells at Cyrus and tells him to get on board because he is supporting his wife and that Cyrus will support Mellie on Sally’s show tonight. The showdown between Sally and Cyrus is awesome.
We see that Russell is in the hospital when Liv and Huck come in and ask what happened. He tells them that he was shot by two guys so Huck drugs him while Liv smashes his phone. Liv comes up with a new plan and gives Kostya the burner phone from her father and says that he can go after command and in return he releases Mary. Ilya gets done with surgery on Jake and tells him not to move too much or he will die and then leaves him to rest. That’s when Jake turns and see’s Russell beside him and tries to get free.
Jake continues to struggle as Russell gets up and grabs a scalpel. Jake gets one arm free but then the machine starts going off so it alerts the others. Ilya fixes Jake again but says that he’s done all he can. They are talking when Liv brings up Kostya and says for Huck to check on him. However, Russell overhears the plan.
Abby says that the people thought Cyrus held his own against Sally and that he should have his own show. Regarding Mellie however they still think that she shouldn’t be senator and Fitz is down five points since Mellie announced. Liz suggests leaking that their marriage is over but Mellie doesn’t like that idea. Fitz calls Liv to get her opinion on how to help Mellie win. Liv tells him that they should be worrying about the people of Virginia and not the nation because there is no getting around the conflict of interest so they need to own it and make it the selling point.
Liv is talking by Jake’s bedside when he wakes up and starts to struggle because he see’s Russell. Liv tries to calm him down when Huck comes in and says that he can’t find Kostya. Liv goes to Mary’s house and finds her and her grandchildren dead so she leaves. When Liv gets to her car she hears a phone ringing and goes to the trunk. When she opens it she finds Kostya dead and answers the phone.
It’s papa Pope. “What have I always told you, Olivia? Against me, you will never win.”
When Liv gets back to the warehouse she tells the others that it is over, they are no longer moving against B613. Ilya packs up and is leaving because she didn’t honor the deal. Liv convinces them to not move against her father and tells them to get Jake to the hospital and that she is going to take Russell with her.
We see Mellie in Virginia speaking to the people and are then watching it from the White House. Cyrus tells Fitz that she is killing herself nationally from Kansas city to Kalamazoo. Fitz replies that they aren’t in Virginia and goes into the oval.
Russell is on the phone with command and is told to watch Liv because she is unpredictable and that they are moving forward with Foxtail. In Liv’s room, Russell is on her bed half-naked. Liv has Russell close his eyes and then she pulls a gun on him. She says that she couldn’t figure out how her dad knew about the Russians and says that it was him. She figures out that he is B613 and was sent to kill Jake. She demands to know what foxtail is.
